Camel Classic ends 2024 ACTC Year

There was a strong Class Eight Entry but Mark Seward and Patrick Keat had the lowest score of the day on their outfit.

Camel Vale Motor Club had a full entry for their popular, season ending Camel Classic. In line with club tradition the Index of Performance is used to calculate the overall results. So it was Matt Facey in his familiar E30 BMW who went home with the Dave Keat Trophy as overall car winner.

ACTC points are awarded on total scores rather than Index and the lowest car score of the day was achieved by Keelan Hancock in the family Buggy, heading a field of 23 Class Eight specials.

In the motorcycle classes Mark Seward and Patrick Keat only dropped four marks all day on their outfit to win the Wadham Stringer Trophy.

Solo winner was John Reeves, the only motorcycle to clean the penultimate section, Hellings. This ensured his win over Mark Courtney who dropped ten here. This topped off a successful season for John, assuring him as winner of the ACTC Pouncey League for solo motorcycles.

Demanding Dunmere

Simon Groves was the best car in his Troll on a tough event

Despite the snow blanketing much of the country the Western Peninsula was clear and Camel Vale were able to run their single venue Camel Heights event in Dunmere Woods between Bodmin and Wadebridge.

The conditions weren’t easy though and the mud made the tough sections very difficult. “Proper Hard Core Trialling” as it was described by one competitor.

Class Eight dominated the podium positions amongst the cars, Simon Groves emerging victorious in his Troll.

Launceston Trial

Matt Facey was best car in his BMW. Ben Tonkin headed an excellent entry of nine sidecars

Matt started his day clearing the first six sections, establishing a lead he was to retain for the rest of the day in his Class 3 BMW. Matt finished the day dropping 22 points ahead of second place Ryan Tonkin on 41 in his Class 8 Buggy. Just behind were the battling class sevens of Adrian Booth (Arkley) and Philip Thomas (Melos), both on 43.

Launceston and North Cornwall MC had attracted and excellent entry of nine sidecars for their single event Classic in Lew Woods. Ben Tonkin and Michael Curnow dominated the day dropping only 8 points. Keelan Hancock was best solo Continue reading “Launceston Trial”
