Holsworthy Motor Club’s Chairmans Trial is now established in the ACTC Championship alongside their September Taw and Torridge event.

Starting at Holsworthy Cattle Market the route headed out towards the Hartland Peninsula, embracing Sutcombe, Hackmarsh and Cutliffe Lane, all well known from the Land s End.

Of these sections only Cutliffe lane was to trouble the field. Even this didn’t bother Class Eight too much and the specials were to dominate the event, filling the first seven places ahead of Phillip Thomas, the only starter in Class Seven.

It was the grassy sections that were a problem to the production cars. Some of these were very muddy and traction was at a premium.

The top three cars were all lightweight front engined Class Eights. Dave Foreshew was third overall in his Dingo and Peter Browne captures his determined attempt to conquer Gullijohn

Going back to Class Eight only two marks separated the top four. Jack Selwood took the win on test times over Charlie Merson. Dave Foreshew was one mark behind in his Dingo followed by Roger Teagle with his UVA Fugitive.

Solo winner Joe Wills was one of four with a clean sheet. Steve Urell was best outfit.
