Dave Haizelden Wins Tough Cotswold Clouds

Nick Aldridge and Gary Browning were second and third. Local driver Josh Moss came so near to a win in his Fuel injected, Imp engined Canon but the Class Eight restart on Jerrys proved too difficult and took all the specials out of contention. It was the same in Class Seven where Nick Aldridge also saw his chance at a win slip away.

The Cotswold Clouds is one of the most established events in the calendar, this year being its 60th anniversary. Organised by Stroud and District Motor Club, probably the most Classic Trials orientated club in the country, with a great depth of organising talent in its membership. Consequently there is no shortage of experienced Clerks of the Course and this year the event was in the capable hands of Nigel Moss.

President Haizelden

Ben Gladwyn had the lowest score on the day but David Haizelden won the Presidents Cup on Index

Camel Vale had good weather for their day in Bonyalva Woods with cars ending the day covered in dust rather than the usual mud.
Ben Gladwyn had a successful Presidents, dropping 3 marks on the day, the lowest score. The Presidents Cup was awarded to David Haizelden who was best on Index. (Photo by Nicola Butcher).

Camel Vale drew an excellent entry of 28 for their single venue trial in Bonyalva Woods. The restarts rather got the better of Class 8 and the days main battle was between Ben Gladwyn in his 1300 Beetle and Dave Haizelden, back in the Reliant Scimitar which won the Torbay in the hands of Jack Selwood while Dave was organising the event.

David Haizelden Conquers Kyrle

With wet weather leading up to the Event making the Kyrles ultra steep hills even more slippery than usual this years event was a very tough proposition.

Nick Farmer captures ACTC Chair Dave Haizelden battling with the mud and ruts on Badgers. As you can see in Nick’s video Dave oh so nearly came to a stop but kept the power on to clear the section and win the event.

David Haizelden Clinches Wheelspin on Camel

Adrian Marfell was best car overall but all eyes were on the championship showdown after a season long battle between David Haizelden and Paul Merson

Amongst the cars it was a closely fought battle with five Class Eights, two Class Fours and  and two Class Fives covered by a mere four marks. In the end the win went to Adrian Marfell in his rail on 25 points with Paul Merson, Dan Keat and Aaron Haizelden on 26.
